The Icky Details- Fundraising :p

Wow, it's getting so close to August. I've never been so aware of the days passing as I am now, waiting for the 19th of August when I will officially be starting my journey with orientation in Chicago. There is soo much to do, and so little time.
Visa applications, travel inoculations, clearance letters from police and doctors' appointments galore, not to mention packing! Oh dear Lord, packing (it's safe to say that I haven't started thinking about packing yet-- exactly where do I get a suitcase from again?)
But there's another part of the preparation that I have to admit I haven't put much effort into yet: the dreaded fundraising.
I don't like asking people for money.
Asking for support, for encouragement and prayers, well, that's hardly been necessary. I have already been faced with so much love and care from my friends and family that to be honest, it's a bit overwhelming.
But, as this entire year of service will be about growth, it's time to face the music, bite the bullet, get down to business, whatever your preferred cliche about getting your stuff together is. This week will be the week of getting busy and getting it done.
Wish me luck-- oh, and I promise I will try my hardest to remember to post updates more often :D

If there are any Internet fairies lurking around (or any family/friends I missed on my first time around) who want to donate to the cause, leave a comment with an email address and I will gratefully send you some information on how to support the ELCA's global missions in Madagascar.  :)
